Salam everyone! Kac Kac or Somali Beignets are little square dough fritters most famously made during the month of Ramadan! While most Kac Kac are fried, I've decided to give you a healthier alternative by showing you how to bake them to perfection! So let's get baking!

INGREDIENTS:

-- How to activate the yeast---
¾ cups or 170ml lukewarm water
⅓ cup granulated sugar
1 heaped teaspoon active dry yeast

Wet ingredients mix in a big bowl:
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
½ cup evaporated milk*
3 ½ cup flour
2 tablespoons butter, melted

Top it off with the following:
for sweet kac kac: brush some melted butter on top of beignets and add sugar for dusting
for traditional kac kac: add some black seed before putting in the oven
