The "alternator freewheel device" or simply called the "alternator pulley" during deceleration of the engine allows the alternator to continue turning freely due to its accumulated kinetic force as well as reducing the vibrations and tugs of the engine.
When the alternator freewheel is about to break it starts to make noise, the first mention is anomalous noises in the belt area and more engine consumption.

Before buying the spare part you need to know what type of alternator is mounted on our car because there are many types and each model has a different free wheel.

For example, my car (diesel engine 1.3) can have two different alternators, so the respective codes are:
