This is Episode 1 of 5 films documenting our bikepacking journey from Chamonix to Nice roughly following the GR5.

In this episode we used the GR5, some on-road riding, and the GR5E variation due to Natural park Laws.

On the journey from Chamonix to Nice we had to pass two Natural Parc's which don't allow mountain bikes, and in this episode we also had some 'weather'.

The aim is to encourage anyone considering either riding the GR5 or just bikepacking across the Alps to give it a go - it certainly didn't go completely to plan, but it was an amazing experience nevertheless.

I this first episode, we kick off with two of the biggest days of the trip, as well as the worst weather, but over the 5 days the weather improves and we eventually make it to the Refuge at the foot of Mont Thabor in great sunny weather.
