In the last episode of the Horseless Carriage series, I'm about to take a ride in the legendary Bitter CD. It is one of my dream cars. And well, it had some serious issues with the battery. Btw, this is my last extended car review, and I may close this channel in the next coming weeks.

In the wild world of cars, there are classics, there are legends, and then there's the Bitter CD - a masterpiece on wheels by the one and only Erich Bitter. Enter the Bitter CD, a car that oozed V8 and style like it had a PhD in coolness. There is actually a lot to tell about Erich Bitter, who died in July this year at the age of 90. For me, he was one of the most interesting automotive personalities in Germany. On the way to the Bitter CD, names like #Abarth, #Intermeccanica, #Lamborghini and, less excitingly, #Opel come up. Let's keep it short. Bitter gets to know all the big ones in Turin. And he recognises a weakness of the Italian supercars of the 1960s and 70s. For the most part, they don't work that well. Bitter wants exactly such a car, but one that works. When Opel presented the beguilingly beautiful Opel CD Concept in 1969, things started to take shape. Opel wants to build the CD, but there is a lack of capacity. #Frua, who continues to work on the design, is too small for production. So Erich Bitter comes into play. The CD is ready for series production and is sold as the Bitter CD with the 5.7 litre V8 from the #OpelDilpomat. When this beauty rolled onto the scene in 1973, jaws dropped. The design was like a symphony of curves and angles, an orchestra of automotive artistry. The elongated hood was a runway, the low-slung body was pure drama, and those pop-up headlights? A surprise party for your eyeballs. Underneath that sleek hood, there was pure magic - a V8 engine that growled like a lion and purred like a kitten. This car wasn't just about getting from A to B; it was about making a statement. It was the kind of car that turned every drive into a red-carpet event. Celebrities flocked to the Bitter CD like bees to honey. It was a status symbol, a way to say, "I've made it." Movie stars, rock legends, and high rollers couldn't resist its allure. It was the car that made you feel like a million bucks. For many the Opel Diplomat was a drawback, but I love it. And believe me: It is one of the best cars, I’ve ever driven.

Anyway, it is one of the cars in the www.ps-speicher.de collection, in Einbeck/Germany
