Hi, Mike with AllBrite here! Welcome to the channel. In this video, I tackle a big pressure washing job and using a fire hydrant is the fastest way to get water.

Here are some important tips and using fire hydrants for pressure washing:

1. **Account Setup You need to set up an account with the water company that owns the hydrant. Hydrants can be public or private, but the water is always supplied by the water company. This is important to know if there's a problem and the hydrant needs to be shut off. It's best to fire a hydrant that has a shut off located near it.

2. **Water Meter and Backflow**: You'll need a water meter to keep track of your usage and have a backflow device attached to the water meter. In the county I hook up in, I need to inform them when and where I hook up to a hydrant. Different counties have different rules; some will come and hook up their meter, while others will let you use your own.

3. **Permission Sign**: A metal sign identifies that you have permission to hook up to the hydrant.
4. **Inspection and Operation**: Inspect the hydrant before hooking up. Open and close the hydrant slowly. A gate valve before the backflow is recommended.

5. **Backflow Inspection**: You need to have your backflow inspected every year to stay in compliance.

*Flush Hydrant* When you first open a hydrant, the water can be rusty and brown. This happens because the hydrant hasn't been used in a while, and sediment builds up inside the pipes. It's important to let the water run for a few minutes until it clears up before connecting it to your equipment.

6. **Billing**: Having an account with the water company costs money. Even if there is no water usage, there is still a monthly fee.

When opening a fire hydrant it's important to open it slowly and all the way which is about 20 rotations. You will want to flush water so you do not get sediment and ru

you will need a hydrant key

Fire hose or a connection at the end of back flow that you can hook a garden hose up to.
