Backpacking to Lake Katherine Alone - Pecos Wilderness, NM

Lake Katherine may just be the most beautiful lake in all of New Mexico. Situated high in the Pecos Wilderness at 11,742 feet above sea level Lake Katherine is a stunning Alpine Lake. On this backpacking trip I spent two nights in the Pecos, one at Stewart Lake (10,232 Feet) and one at Lake Katherine (11,742). As far I as I know I was alone and had the whole lake to myself. I started at the Cowles Trailhead (TH 13) and took the 271 Winsor Trail to Stewart Lake. I spent the night on the North Side of Stewart lake then took trail 251 Skyline Trail up to Lake Katherine.
