Willow City Loop, FSD(S) Tesla Full Self Driving (Supervised)
2024-10-06

This is an ambient audio ride down Willow City Loop which is North East of Fredericksburg (far West of Austin). It is very bumpy. There are many cattle grates, low water crossings, cow patties on the road, and one minor rock fall across the road. FSD(S) came to a complete stop before two of the cattle grates, requiring intervention. That's not going to work for rural users of FSD(S). They are too common to not be supported.
This area looks like a park, but it's not. It's not good to get out of the car and get into the brush onto private property where people might be hunting.

I tried many camera set-ups but none are "good". This one is shaky, but
better than all the others I've tried. The road is very bumpy and several times it knocked the cameras out of alignment.

To those new to FSD(S), the blue steering wheel icon in the upper left of the display shows it is active and driving the car. The path in the center of the screen turns blue too. If they are grey, then I'm driving. You'll be able to hear the begin and end chimes too as it begins or ends driving.

AI info: M3LR, HW4, v12 (2024.27.25), FSD(S) v12.5.4

00:00 Starting at the Willow City School House, at the South end of Willow City Loop.
00:35 It wasn't going to be able to turn around to get back to the road.
01:35 Turning left onto the actual start of the Willow City Loop.
05:53 camera knocked out of alignment
06:08 fixed
07:15 camera knocked out of alignment again
07:27 fixed again
07:58 It came to a complete stop for this cattle grate. I don't know why this one. It passed several before this no problem. I used the accellerator to get past it.
08:37 Disengaged to pull over more so we could get past each other.
10:18 Other sightseers. It looked like FSD(S) wasn't going to pass them on its own in a reasonable amount of time, so I intervened.
13:35 A really hard full stop at this cattle grate. Not pleasant. I intervened for most cattle grates after this.
14:03 Low water crossing. It didn't show from this video but the far right side was heavily eroded under it by floodwater.
14:41 Intervened to pull over to the side more so we could get past each other. Might not have been needed in this case.
15:23 Low water crossing.
16:31 Low water crossing.
17:39 Low water crossing x 2.
22:56 Low water crossing. With water! Not the bad kind of water though.
23:16 Maybe a rock fall across the road. Or just erosion. It doesn't look as bad on camera as it did in person.
23:47 FSD(S) doesn't avoid fresh cow patties. Splash! Gonna need to wash the car after that one.
24:00 Low water crossing. And the camera gets knocked out of alignment again.
24:40 and fixed again
26:20 rock cuts and low water crossing. looks like it's silting up in front of the crossing too
27:16 Pulling over to let someone get past. I'm a visitor here poking along. They live here and got places to be. I don't think FSD(S) is going to be able to do this for a long time, if ever. Be careful pulling over in places like this, by the way. You'll get cactus spines in your tires. I've never seen one pop a tire, but I don't want that life experience, thanks.
32:04 Low water crossing.
33:29 And that would be it!
