Mike and I do some solo bird hunting without a dog out in the desert for California Quail. Last week, I made a home made quail call from a rubber band. This week, I got to try out that call and am confident in saying that it worked! I called quail, they called back, and it helped me locate where the birds were. Definite an important tool for quail hunting without dogs. This is boots on the ground, public land quail hunting in California.

This is my second species of quail, having not been an upland bird hunter for more than two seasons. Last season, we got into some mountain quail that we hunted; also without a dog.

To step this one up, I do a quail catch and cook for you guys using a simple recipe I reserved for cooking out in the field. As we were pressed on time and had to head back, I utilized Mike's kitchen to capture the cleaning process as well.
