Complete unmitigated disaster is probably the best description for the last race of the weekend at the Fall Brawl at Summit Point. I started the race in 3rd place and got a good start that allowed me to push Firas. I was in 3rd place when his belts came undone and I got stuck behind him as he was trying to get them hooked up again and get going. By the time I could get by, the whole main pack was ahead of me and I had to play catch up again.
After a lot of really bad luck with traffic, I eventually caught up with Xavier. When I was getting ready to setup the overtake with just a couple of laps to go, a BMW from a different class decided to pass me right before turn 10. Xavier put his experience to use and blocked him from overtaking, leaving me having to choose between losing a lot of time lifting and allowing the BMW to pass or hanging on the outside. I decided to risk it an hold the outside, but I dropped a wheel by a mere 10 cm in the gravel trap, which caused a lot of pad knockback. So much so, that even after tapping the brakes, when I went hard on them for turn 1, there was nothing there and I had to take evasive action to avoid Xavier and the tire wall and save the car.
The track walk on Friday paid off since I had already identified that escape road as a possible exit strategy. A weekend to forget, which is a shame considering the pace that I had.
