WHO INVENTED SKYSCRAPERS? AN UNBELIEVABLE JOURNEY TO DISCOVER A LITTLE MANHATTAN OF 800 YEARS AGO. - SEE ALSO A NEW VIDEO :    • 3D Bologna - Past to Present   (3D Bologna Past to Present)

Many people will recognize the city of Bologna for its famous meat sauce, sparkling red wine and tortellini, but has offered much more than culinary achievements.
Its status as a cultural and historical center of Europe dates back to the Middle Ages; home to the oldest university in Europe, started in 1088, its ancient towers preceded modern skyscrapers by many centuries.
Just imagine walking through Bologna's streets during the 13th century, at a time when the heated rivalries among families who, in an effort to show their strength and power, had driven them to build a host of very high and magnificent towers.
As you pass by these towers, you can also admire the houses, buildings and famous porticoes (arcades); this innovative way to experience the daily life of a Mediaeval town is made possible by our 3D map, that reproduces the look of medieval Bologna, whose streets you can walk down in first person view, with no danger of being hit by some passing cart...
The map shown below is the result of long and accurate historical, architectural and toponymic research, paying the utmost attention to the sources available in order to reproduce the look of the city during the Middle Ages as faithfully as possible, to bring its enchantment back to life.
