The ethical use of artificial intelligence and the legal, philosophical, moral and practical arguments for and against the integration of AI technology into the research environment were discussed at Wits’ Global Ethics Day. Prof. Jonah Choiniere visited SAHETI School and sparked learners’ interest in dinosaurs, fossils and the palaeosciences. We meet Prof. Nelesh Govender who received a £2 million grant to study AIDS-related infections, and we touch base with researchers who propose using plants and bacteria to clean toxic acid mine drainage in Krugersdorp.
