Massive pieces of equipment are submerged in the Fraser River as construction continues on a new outfall pipe. It's all part of a large scale upgrade for Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant, which serves 1.25 million Metro Vancouver residents.

The new pipe is expected to meet the regional growth needs for the next 100 years while ensuring greater seismic resilience and continuous, reliable and safe management of liquid waste.
