The Downhill Mountain Biking Master World Champs 2021 will take place in Pra Loup, France.
The track is called Black Jack. Pra Loup is a lovely small bike park and I really enjoyed riding this track. Of course, there will be a few changes in the layout of the course, especially at the end. I rode the track in the wet and the dry. The dirt is amazing when it's dry, but it's very sketchy in the wet. When it rains, the dirt becomes the kind of clay that change tires in ice skating blades.
In this run, I focused on picking up the right lines. It's about 60% all set in my mind, but I missed a few key ones. Some others will not work at all when speed picks up.
However, weather conditions will have a huge impact on this race. Heavy rain is not unusual at the end of August in the Alps. The mountain of Pra Loup takes a while to dry and the technical sections of the track are not very steep, but it's very slippery.
Right now, I'm 90% set on racing with my enduro bike, Santa Cruz Nomad with 180mm fork. I will take my Santa Cruz V10, but I don't see the need for a big bike on this track.
