If you're wondering how to influence people as a leader, you need to understand the process of how influence works. Whether it's with your team or with others, influence comes when you form an emotional connection and build trust, then you can influence people. This real influence will get people to follow you, not because they have to, but because they "want to"!💯

Many who land in a leadership position for the first time, rely on their position power, i.e., their job title, to give them influence over others. This position power can help you influence for a while, but if you don't back it up with a genuine connection to people in your team, and if you don't build trust with them, your ability to influence won't last very long at all 😂. People will realise they don't have to let you influence them, so they won't.

In this video, I explain this shallow/fleeting type of influence you can get with your position as well as the lasting influence, or real influence 😀, that leaders should be aiming for. I also share five things you need to do in order to build real influence with people in your team.
