Aiming at my standing ovation
As these teeth move to the same neighborhood as eyes I have
My world knows me good but I know myself better
Tended to the same streets you pluck roses.
My skin sets an alarm, rushing my body to wake up.
The sun changes but it does not shine.
We light the precinct to feed the night
A forest fire with roots to my spine
A piece of me lacing gravity with tears when my saliva thickens
I’ll listen.
I’m safe at this fire
I’ll listen many times
There’s no guide to this follow up
Guards up with blood to wash the streets
Throwing epiphanies instead of firetrucks
My cells dance around your ego
Mining my mind to whoms business
I’ll find treasure
Your ego will forever be below me
Watching me
Aim at my standing ovation.
