This series we are planning on travelling through France, Spain and Portugal then back to the UK to stay within the 90/180 day Schengen allowance.
This week we are taking our motorhome and our two dogs on the ferry across from New Haven to Dieppe in France.
The dogs can stay in the motorhome throughout the 4 hour crossing. As our girls are comfortable in their “own little den” we felt comfortable with trialling the ferry crossing.
DFDS ferries provide discount for over 60 if you phone to book – which is useful.
The ferry was a very swift operation and we did not have to leave the vehicle with the dogs to check them through – which we had to with the Eurotunnel.
The crossing did seem a bit long but it was handy to reach Rouen for our first night stop over. For us it was also easier to access New Haven compared to Folkestone.
Both dogs seemed really fine with the crossing.
As you will note from the video it is such a swift operation Dave was caught with his trousers down – well not quite but nearly!
