Tekapo is a small township located at the southern end of the lake of the same name in the inland South Island of New Zealand. Tekapo sees plenty of visitors and is easily one of the most popular lake destinations in New Zealand. Within Tekapo town, you'll find lots of restaurants and cafes, a small supermarket, as well as hotels, and even its own hot springs.

Late spring is the perfect time for a visit Tekapo (November to December). The lupins will be in full bloom which offers up a truly magnificent sight, the blue of the lake seems impossibly blue and the clear night skies are perfect for stargazing.
