The 1981 Race of the Year at Mallory Park was one of the closest fought Bike Grand Prix races for years, with Barry Sheene, New Zealander Graeme Crosby and American Randy Mamola dicing with Kork Ballington and Ron Haslam on the big Honda GP bike.
