We interviewed thirteen living legends which lead us to revisit the traditions, explore and experience the Golden Era of Bengali Music & rich Musical History of Kolkata once again. They are DIPALI NAG, SUBIR SEN, SUMITRA SEN, BIMAN MUKHOPADHYAY, RUMA GUHA THAKURTA, AMAR PAL, AMIYA RANJAN BANDYOPADHYAY, ALPANA BANDOPADHYAY, RAMKUMAR CHATTOPADHYAY, MRINAL CHAKRABORTY, MIRA BANDOPADHYAY, NILIMA BANDOPADHYAY and GIRIJA DEVI. যবে থেকে নগরীটির পত্তন তবে থেকেই হাজারো গানে জড়িয়ে আছে কলকাতা । এ'শহরের ভোর হচ্ছে রামকেলি, কালেঙ্গরা, ভৈরবীতে, সকাল কাটছে কিছু না কিছু রবীন্দ্রসঙ্গীতে, দুপুর ভর করছে স্বর্ণ যুগের বাংলা আধুনিকে, সন্ধেকালে ফিরে আসে বাংলা কবিদের সেই স্মৃতিময় গান এবং রাত নামছে বেহাগ, বাগেশ্রী, দরবারিতে ।
এক কথায় এ হল কলকাতা গান ।
আর এই কলকাতা গানের সঙ্গে জড়িয়ে আছেন অগণিত গায়ক ও গায়িকা । অর্থাৎ যাঁদের গান শুনে আমরা জাগি এবং যাঁদের গান শুনতে শুনতে ঘুমিয়ে পড়ি রাতে ।
এমন কিছু শিল্পীদের নিয়ে আমাদের কলকাতা গান নিবেদন । সেই শিল্পীদের সাক্ষ্মাৎকার বলুন, গান বলুন, কিম্বা শুধুই উপস্থিতি আমরা তুলে রেখেছি এই কলকাতা গানের প্রতি পর্বে ।
কলকাতা গানের নবম পর্বে আমরা কথা বলব রামকুমার চট্টোপাধ্যায়ের সঙ্গে । রামকুমারবাবুর বড় অবদান তিনি নিধুবাবুর টপ্পা, লালচাঁদ বড়ালের কমিক গান কী গহরজানের রোম্যান্টিক গানের পাশাপাশি আদি কলকাতার সহস্রমুখী গান ধারণ করেছিলেন একই কন্ঠে । কীর্তন, ভজন, সামাজিক ও আধ্যাত্মিক সবরকম গান তাঁর গলায় পাখির মতো পোষ মানানো ছিল । এক কথায় রামকুমার চট্টোপাধ্যায় ছিলেন এক মূর্ত কলকাতা গান । আমরা সেই রামকুমারবাবুকে তাঁর জীবন সায়াহ্নে পেয়েছি এই নিবেদনে, যেখানে তিনি কথা বলছেন নিজের জীবন ও গান নিয়ে ।
