When I first saw this I thought it might be a wood veneer guillotine or for soft non ferrous metal, but I did some research on the patent number and it turns out it is a wood shear and the patent was granted in Great Britain in 1933. One of the original bolts was quite corroded, and as I don't have the right dye to re-thread it or the right sized nut to go with it, it was just easier to replace the bolts for new ones.
At the end of the video I placed a thin piece of steel under the wood insert on the shear, This was temporary and I have already replaced the insert with a bigger piece of timber.
