A Motorcycle Journey to Lake George and Lake Placid in the Adirondacks from Florida, Exploring Upstate New York

From Florida, aboard the Auto Train with the motorcycle to Virginia, and a path that would take me north in the direction of the Adirondacks. Gettysburg history and then the road north to New York. To pass by the site of the Woodstock Music Festival of 1969, where baby "me" attended some 53 years ago, and then meandering my way to lakes and mountains, and of places unknown. That was the plan. Once again, there were no commitments after boarding the train, and while there was a vision of possible routes and places to explore, I was guaranteed to be in the moment and open to the possibilities.

From Hawk's Nest high above the Delaware River on New York State scenic route 97, I made my to the Hudson Valley, the Hudson Highlands and a brief exploration of the Catskills. With a stop in Rhinebeck to grab some candy at a famous candy store, I then made my way north to Lake George via Saratoga Springs. After a couple nights in Lake George and exploring the area, I went deeper north into the Adirondacks, past lakes, through the rain, and arrived in Lake Placid.

Running from the rain I went in search of the sun and some elevations, south to Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive in Virginia. Past Virginia Vineyards and hitching a ride on the Auto Train for an overnight back to Florida. The 12 day mini-adventure concluded. It was a great opportunity to explore Upstate New York, the Adirondacks, and towns along the way, but mainly it was about twisting the throttle and yoga on the motorcycle.
