380 new species were discovered by scientists in the Greater Mekong region in 2021 and 2022. These unique and wonderful species demonstrate how Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam are still hotbeds of biodiversity. But the species of the region are facing many threats - habitat degradation and destruction, the illegal wildlife trade, and invasive species to name a few - threatening their very survival.
