#abusivelitigation is super common, especially in the #familylaw context. #divorce and #custody cases are positively ripe for abuse, especially in cases where there's an imbalance in power. One of the reasons that I think #spousalsupport (or #alimony, whatever you or your state want to call it) is because it helps to close that gap of inequity that comes from having a higher wage earner and a lower (or non) wage earner. #stayathomemoms are particularly at risk, of course, but so too are just general lesser earning #spouses, whether they work #parttime, #workfromhome, or just plain earn less. Consider not just the cost of paying an #attorney to represent you, but the cost of #guardianadlitem work, a #custodyevaluator if one is ordered in your case, any #drugtesting or other "forensic" work that has to be done (like formal #discovery, too) ... it can add up. And, if he has more than you monetarily, he can wield that sword to his advantage - and to the detriment of you and your kids.
