The movie is about a driven cheerleader (Devery Jacobs) struggling to handle the pressure when she and her girlfriend are both selected for an elite Toronto cheer squad. ‘Backspot’ is D.W. Waterson’s feature directorial debut and it premiered in the Discovery program at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival.
