Walter White from Breaking Bad is one of the best known protagonists from this century. He is an incredibly well-written character who many men have enjoyed due to his rise from lowly chemistry teacher to badass drug kingpin. And while his character journey is undeniably incredible, that is mostly due to his failures. Walt is consumed by his pride, his hubris, consistently acting in a way that benefits himself at the expense of others. And so, he is a prime example of failed masculinity.
