Pench Tiger Reserve is a place where you can see the jungle book come to life. Everything about Pench is captivating to the senses. Its diverse habitat of wooded forests, rocky terrain, hills, streams, reservoir and grassland make you feel like you are visiting a different forest on every third turn. And this diverse vegetation and terrain attract a wide variety of birds and wildlife making it a rich jungle. From tigers and leopards to gaur, spotted deer and sambar deer and from hornbills and junglefowls to monitor lizards and langurs, Pench Tiger Reserve is teeming with wildlife.

No wonder Rudyard Kipling chose to write his iconic book 'The Jungle Book' based on this forest, its characters and its stories.

Pench is one of India's best tiger destinations and is one of my favorite jungles in India.

In this video, you can see a monitor lizard enjoying his termite breakfast at Pench national park. These termites get wings during the breeding season and the monitor lizard along with other birds and wild animals (like macaques and langurs) make best use of this feast. Termites are high in protein and make for a very nutritious meal.
