Lee Joon-gi plays the role of Gong-gil who is beautiful and gentle, capturing the king’s affection. This puts him in a complicated emotional situation. Lee Joon-gi’s outstanding performance not only showcases Gong-gil's fragility and charm but also expresses the character's internal struggles and helplessness through his exquisite acting. The film successfully propelled Lee Joon-gi into stardom in the Korean entertainment industry.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐧 received widespread acclaim for its stunning visuals, profound character relationships, and intricate palace intrigue. It set records for attendance in South Korea and became one of the most popular films of its time.
