We visited the Caminito del Rey aerial trail in August of 2024. It was one of our “to-do” things and was worthwhile even if it was tiring. There was a LOT of walking and it was a bit hot. We recommend visiting in Fall or Spring.

The Caminito del Rey is an aerial trail that was built because the Hydroelectric Power Station El Chorro, owner of Salto del Gaitanejo and Salto del Chorro, needed an access between the two ‘leaps of water’ to facilitate crossing of maintenance operations as well as materials’ transport.
After a period of years, the trails had been damaged. After February 2014, Málaga’s regional council started the complete restoration process of El Caminito. At the end of March 2015 el Caminito was reopened to the public.
