My incredible, once in a lifetime flight in Spitfire MJ627 from the historic Biggin Hill on 19th May 2015 - courtesy of the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar. Richard Verrall was my amazing pilot for the day flying us eastwards over Brands Hatch & towards Maidstone before letting me take the controls & then treating me to a couple of victory rolls.
MJ627 was built at Castle Bromwich as an LF MK IXc and entered service with 441 Squadron of the RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force). MJ627's first operational sortie was on the 25th Sept 1944 from advanced landing ground B70 in Belgium. On the 27th Sept 1944, just two days after entering service MJ627 destroyed a Messerschmitt Me109 over Arnhem whilst being flown by P/O Sidney Bregman.
