In this video, we talk about reflexive verbs. When the person you are referring to in the verb is doing something to himself or herself it is reflexive. For example: “Me lavo las manos” ( I wash my hands)
You can identify reflexive verbs by noticing that in the infinitive form, the verb will always include the reflexive pronoun “se” at the end of the AR/ER/IR ending.
Reflexive verbs need reflexive pronouns in order to make the subject and the object of the verb the same figure (ie. the action is being performed on the subject itself). These reflexive pronouns are: me, te, se, nos, os, se. The position is in front of the verbos if we express present, past or future tenses. Some examples are: “Te duchas cada mañana”, “nos acostaremos muy tarde mañana viernes”, “me dormí muy temprano ayer”. With gerund or infinitive forms the pronoun goes in front or behind. For example: “Estoy duchándome” or “me estoy duchando”. “Va a afeitarse” or “se va a afeitar”.
