Here are some tips for staying warm in a kilt in winter:

Wear layers. Multiple layers of clothing, including a base layer like thermals, or a merino wool underlayer will trap body heat. The goal is to keep your core temperature nice and solid.

Wear thicker kilt hose. Handknit wool or Merino wool blend hose are great!

Wear a waterproof kilt cover or rain cape: In rainier conditions, you can wear a waterproof kilt cover or rain cape - this is mainly a bagpiper thing.

Wear a wool jumper (Irish sweater):

Wear a good jacket. Many traditional Scottish highland Dress jackets are made from thick warm wool. See ours here:

Get some wool or alpaca insoles for your shoes (especially if you are wearing ghillie brogues)
