‪@Knowledgia‬ did a good video on the origins of the Protestant Reformation but inadvertently omitted a critical piece of history that occurred just over 100 years before Luther's 95 theses. Jan Hus & Jerome of Prague were two ardent Bohemian reformers in the 1400s, and when they were brutally burnt at the stake by the Catholic Church for their impudence, the nobility and citizens of Bohemia became the first to tell the pope and his minions to shove off. The Bohemian Reformation, however, failed to spread into Europe due to factional infighting; but it did spark the Thirty Years' War in the 1600s.
