Mike and Dana were not to be put off by the heat as they explored for good fishing holes in Tennessee. Keeping the bait alive would be a challenge. When you're fishing the hottest part of summer, it's wise to buy bait when you have several days in a row to fish so it wont all die on you in the heat. So they picked up some live minnows and headed out to try their luck. Success was mixed, with fresh water drum, some bluegill, as well as a turtle being caught. Figuring the bank fishing would be slow and the fish out deep, they decided to try a dam tailrace the next morning.. These can be great spots to fish in the summer, as the cold water coming out of the dam provides better fishing when it gets hot. If you can find it, cold water can really make a difference fishing during the hotter months of the year! They then finish off their several days of fishing at an old reliable spot trout fishing in the mountains at a river where it was a bit cooler.
