The songs I chose to sum up this final year of high school are very personal to me. I waited years to be able to listen to Mac Miller's The Spins on graduation day, the feeling of getting to yell out, "oh, I graduated, oh yeah, I just graduated high school, haha", was serene. One of the best portrayals of growing up is through Lorde's early music. In Ribs, she sings, "And I've never felt more alone, feels so scary getting old". That encapsulates the feeling of being at the cusp of your adult life and leaving your childhood behind. It's very scary, but it's also so exciting.
Lastly, I had to add a melancholy song to the mix with Phoebe Bridger's Scott Street. When I initially added it during editing, it synched up so perfectly with the graduation clips that I started crying. I wanted the final message of this video to be "don't be a stranger". For all my dear friends, keep that in mind. I am so excited to see where we all go from here. I know we will all do great!
