In this video I start to show you what it is like to be a survey pilot. You will see the Cessna Caravan 208B startup, taxi, and takeoff out of Goose Bay, Labrador.

I’m out in Goose Bay Labrador right now working. Through the upcoming series of videos I hope to be able to give you some interesting caravan content. However, I also want to paint a picture of what survey flying is and what the life of a survey pilot is like.

The life of a survey pilot is certainly packed with adventure and travel. We could find ourselves anywhere in the world. We have possible contracts coming up in the southern US, the Caribbean, and south america. I’ll likely find myself in 1 or all of those locations.

Labrador, located in northeastern Canada, is a vast and untamed wilderness characterized by rugged landscapes, boreal forests, and pristine natural beauty. Its remote and sparsely populated terrain features breathtaking scenery, including towering mountains, expansive lakes, rugged coastlines, and powerful rivers, making it a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and adventure seekers. Abundant wildlife, ranging from caribou and moose to black bears and various bird species, thrives in this untouched environment. Visitors to Labrador can immerse themselves in a rich Indigenous culture and partake in a multitude of outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, canoeing, and aurora borealis viewing, offering a true wilderness experience that leaves a lasting impression.
