The first night's lodging in Niigata Prefecture is at Ryounkaku in Echigo Matsunoyama Onsen, one of the three major medicinal hot springs in Japan along with Arima Onsen and Kusatsu Onsen. The main building is a three-story wooden structure built in 1938 and is designated as a registered tangible cultural property.
