I was not expecting too much from an Action Camera aimed at children and priced at just £37.45 before discounts but in the event, I was quite pleasantly surprised.

In the attractive mid-market branded product box was the camera itself along with a waterproof case, wrist strap, charging cable, a lengthy leash style mounting strap, a small range of camera mounts (including helmet and bike mounts) and a well printed and easy to read User Guide. Build quality all feels fine for the price and on a par with standard action cameras in this price range.

This is not just a regular entry level action camera repackaged for children but has clearly been designed for them from the start. The onboard camera firmware includes a range of 40 picture frames and 7 simple filters as well a small number of easy to play but rather entertaining games. The camera itself has an attractive slimline form factor which is more hand and pocket friendly than most old-style action cameras although is slightly larger to accommodate the 1.77 inch LCD screen. There are plenty of buttons for all the key features on the camera and waterproof case and this makes it easier to operate than multi-function or touchscreen rivals. Although the camera is a pretty basic one it does offer a few more arcane features such as face recognition and x4 digital zoom.

It lacks a few things, for example, the 2 hours rechargeable 750mAh Lithium_ion battery is built-in and needs to be charged again after every 2-4 hours of use. There are no remote control, Bluetooth or wifi options. That said, all your kids need to videos and photos are included including mounts to fit the camera to their sports helmets and bikes.

Operating the camera is easy enough. After switching on, press the camera button to take photos, press the video button to switch to video and again to start filming, press again to stop. There is a power button together with left and right scroll buttons to select from the various options and settings available.

Video and image quality is better than I was expecting and whilst not fantastic is not bad for the price with a sharp, clear well-focused and well-saturated image quality.

I would say this camera is best suited for slightly older kids, maybe 10 to 13 years as the buttons are rather small and there is a bit of a learning curve. With that in mind, for the price, this is still a very decent buy.
