The Rocky Mountains have been an overwhelming obstacle for indigenous tribes, the United States and Canada for hundreds of years. But they've also been the defining geographic feature that created so much wealth and power across both the eastern and western halves of both countries.

In today's video we're going to cover the vast geography of the Rockies, the human history of exploration and settlement in the region, how the mountain range enabled both countries to grow as powerful as they are, and, finally, what even is considered the Rockies as opposed to another nearby mountain range.
