Bristol, RI Fourth of July Celebration: During the American Revolution in 1775, Bristol was raided and bombarded by the British for failing to provide the British with supplies. On July 4, 1777, Bristol held a celebration where thirteen guns were fired, once at morning and again at sunset. In 1785 Bristol Fourth of July Parade was founded and the Fourth of July has been celebrated every year in Bristol since that date.
