Jay van Arsdale's Bay Area group, Kezurou-kai, is the only foreign chapter recognized by Japan that is dedicated to preserving the traditional woodworking techniques. "I do pretty good for a white boy, but it's not perfect," van Arsdale says. "There's always something I can do a little better."
