On January 19, 2024 I headed out for my first winter camping experience at Valens Lake Conservation Area. When I made my plans I had no idea the temperatures would dip to -16 degrees Celcius at night but decided I would still head out and give it a try.

Being my first time I made a number of mistakes which I will use to learn from and ensure that my next winter camping experience is a better time. I'm glad I headed out into the cold to experience winter camping.
