Instructional Designer, Sue Yang explains the foundational principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Viewers will discover how UDL can enhance inclusivity and accessibility in educational environments by providing flexible learning opportunities that cater to diverse student needs.

FCC has partnered with the DECT Grant and Cielo24 to provide free closed-captioning services for media created by instructors who teach with distance education. In the second part of this session, Dr. Jodie Steeley, Director of Distance Education & Instructional Technology introduces the process and requirements for requesting captioning of video content. Accurate captions assist deaf and hard-of-hearing students, but they've also been proven to assist students with comprehension and memory and help students pay attention to the video. The transcripts can also be useful for searching content and creating study guides. Disciplines that use complex formulas and computer application speak, will find tremendous benefits with captioning services.
