About Ooty Lake

Presenting my first video in a series of vlogs covering the popular tourist destinations of Ooty hill station, staring with the Ooty lake and Ooty boat house.

This is the main entrance to the Ooty boat house and the Ooty lake.

Once u enter into the boat house, u will find the boating ticket counter right in the front and “I love Ooty” board on the left side, which is a famous photography spot here.

Ooty boat house is open on all days of the week from 9 am in the morning till 6 pm in the evening.

the price of the entrance ticket to the Ooty boat house is rs 15 per adult and rs 10 per child and provides access to the Ooty lake too.

Ooty lake is an artificial lake constructed by John Sullivan in the year 1824, the then collector of Coimbatore city.

the lake is spread over 65 acres and was originally used for fishing, but in the year 1973, Tamilnadu tourism took over the possession of this lake and converted it into a tourist attraction.

Ooty lake and boat house is just 1 km away from the main bus stand and railway station.

Boating is very popular at Ooty lake and there are lots of boating options available here ranging from pedal boats, motor boats and row boats.

the pricing details of all these boat rides are mentioned in the description section of this video.

the boat house also houses a beautiful garden, which is very well maintained.

there is also an amusement park for children inside the Ooty boat house and one can try their hand at various video games, a mini roller coaster, Tora Tora ride and experience the bumping cars ride too.

there are two big elevated view points on each either of the boat house from where one can enjoy a 180-degree view of the entire Ooty lake.

this is also a famous photography spot here.

there is a small shopping arena, where one can shop woolen clothing, local handicrafts items and buy some locally made chocolates.

Ooty is very popular for the local made variety of chocolates.

in addition, there is a small cafeteria, where one can order food, relax and at same time experience the view of the Ooty lake.

there are also other smaller food joints here.

one should also try out the horror house show along with the 7d cinema here.

there is a small shooting range too here.

there is separate arena here where the Ooty railway station and mini toy train ride has been replicated and one should not miss to experience the ride here.

Ooty boat house also houses a plant nursery along with a horse riding arena, which are found at the exit side of the Ooty boat house.

one should spend minimum half a day of time here to experience the Ooty boat house and the lake perfectly.
