What is Narkasur Goa?
Goa commemorates the death of Asura king Narakasura the day before Diwali. Every neighbourhood creates its own effigy of the demon king using straw, paper, and recycled materials for this unique community festival.

As a part of Diwali celebrations, the effigy of 'Narakasura' was burnt in Panaji on October 24. It was done to mark Hindu God Krishna's victory over Narakasura. Diwali celebrations in Goa include the burning of firecracker-stuffed effigies of Asura King 'Narakasura'

oa celebrates Diwali by slaying demon king Narakasura and celebrates Narak Chaturdashi. Humongous effigies of the demon are made and taken around in vehicles. These are made of papers, straws, and other materials. This unique community festival marks the victory of good over evil.

How was Narkasur killed?
At last, when Narakasura tried to kill Krishna with a trident, Krishna pretended to swoon, because of a boon that Narakasura could be killed only by the one who gave birth to him. Outraged, Satyabhama attacked Narakasura and beheaded him with Krishna's Sudarshana Chakra (discus).
