We will all give and receive care at different points in our lives. But is this reflected on TV? A new study from Caring Across Generations and the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media (GDI) found that less than 11% of scripted TV shows airing new episodes in the US in 2021 featured prominent care-related storylines and that many common scenarios and care activities were missing.

In this panel on the current state of care representation on TV and film, our Director of Culture Change Lydia Storie joins the incredible Geena Davis (two-time Academy Award–winning actor and founder of GDI), Madeline Di Nonno (CEO of the GDI), Jacquelyn Revere (caregiver and care influencer @momofmymom), Robin Shorr (TV writer and showrunner), and Andraéa LaVant (award-winning impact producer and disability consultant).

The conversation delved into the kind of content caregivers and disabled people want to see more of, the intersectionality of care with other identity-based experiences, and how creators can more authentically and seamlessly incorporate care storylines into their projects.
