The Rock/Creek Upchuck 50k takes place on the Cumberland Trail, utilizing the Three Gorges segment for this point-to-point race. These are some of the most remote and beautiful trails in the greater Chattanooga area, but the Upchuck 50k trail race is the most technical, difficult 50k course in the Rock/Creek Trail Series.

Deep gorges, rugged creek crossings, and rocky trails lie around every corner; with huge descents into Soddy Gorge, Possum Gorge and Rock Creek Gorge -- not to mention the ascents back out -- this is one of the slowest 50k races you can do. Put simply, this one would be a very poor choice for your first 50k!

Enjoy commentary from Rock/Creek Race Team members Matt Sims, Chad Wamack, and Sheridan Ames, along with Rock/Creek employee Chad Wykle, as they describe the origins of the Upchuck 50k and the realities of running a small, grassroots event in the middle of the woods.
