Highlighted by recent (and historic) events in the United States, we know that it is critical that educators nurture the seeds of social justice in classrooms. This is the action for equity part of peace education. Participants in this workshop will discuss what contributes to the development of change agents while engaging in creative literacy activities to explore social justice issues and social responsibility. Hands-on activities will also model differentiating instruction and flexible grouping while supporting readers in engagement, comprehension, and decoding.
