Iranian born, Marjane grew up subject to brutal regimes, eventually leading her to study abroad and travel around Europe, Marjane began her career in France having her critically acclaimed autobiographical graphic novel Persepolis be published in French before going on to be published in many different languages throughout the world and be turned into a movie.
Marjane has go on to produce many other works both movies and books, such as Embroideries (2005), Chicken with Plums (2006, 2011) and The Voices (2014). She has won over eight awards for her works, including the special jury prize at the Cannes Film Festival and the Cinema Peace Award for ‘Most Valuable Movie of the Year’
