Oume-juku The Sumiyoshi Shrine, located in Oume-mura, was founded in June Oan 2 to serve as the guardian deity of Mt. Sumiyoshi during the longevity of the mountain, and later became the deity of Oume-mura on Eisho March 28, 10 (1513, the Muromachi period). Villagers carried out the renovation of the worship hall and other buildings, and many parishioners and villagers in the five towns planned and executed the festival to celebrate its completion. This is said to be the beginning of the annual spring festival, which became the current festival of the float parade.
The Ome Grand Festival is held on May 2 and 3 every year, and traffic is restricted along the Ome Kaido, with floats traveling mainly through each town on May 2 and 12 towns on the Ome Kaido on the 3rd.
